The Intelligent Choice

Question:
I'm going to be on Jeopardy! and was wondering what suit combination would convey the most intelligence to both the TV viewer and the audience.
I don't want to look like one of those unintelligent guys always on gameshows without a jacket on or a stupid smile stuck on their face. When you people see me on Jeopardy! I'll be wearing a serious face to suit the solemn occassion: To Win Money because of my Knowledge.
Please advise me. I'm willing to spend a fair amount of money, probably about $3000 to look my best.
Answer:
What is Men's Wearhouse?
Answer:
wow, you made it to the final round (tv round)?
off the top of my head maybe I would wear a dark brown windowpane suit? or maybe a light grey with a slight sheen?
as long as you don't go with a navy blazer, or navy suit, or black suit, it should be more than interesting. If you wear charcoal, make sure it has some sort of pattern on it.
also, for a subtle but rare look (rare on jeopardy at least) wear a pocket square and a spread collar or cutaway collar. <no glennie>
just some ideas...
oh and then there's the dilemma, if you win, you have to wear something else the next episode.
Answer:
He was the smartest man ever.
Answer:
If you want to look "smart", why not try the tweed jacket/elbow patch/I'm a college professor look ?
Who cares about what you wear?
You can dress like your IQ is 260, but if you bomb all the questions, that's no good.
Answer:
Earth tones don't translate well under most television lighting conditions and most subtle patterns are either entirely lost or serve to give a muddled effect to fabric. I would suggest a solid dark suit in navy, grey or even black with a solid white or blue shirt (medium to French in color) and a relatively bold tie in a solid or wide stripe. And, a white linen pocket square.
BTW, I'm watching Ted Kennedy on C-Span right now and he's looking splendid in a solid navy suit/medium blue shirt/blue and white striped tie/white linen pocket square.
Answer:
Just dress like Alex
I think the credits show who provides his clothes.

Answer:
Congrats! Talk to your colorist. Seriously, I would choose something you like and feel comfortable in, as long as it jibes w/ accepted tv wisdom (e.g. blue rather than white shirt, etc.). Stay away from the Lindsey Nelson jackets, and wear a lucky tie....:bigstar:
Answer:
I feel my smartest when I am wearing my package pants.
Answer:
"Thanks Alex. I'll take 'Manhood' for 100 please....."
Answer:
Charcoal.
Answer:
I wouldn't wear a suit or tie. Open collar shirt and sportscoat/blazer is what I'd go for to look "intelligent" but also comfortable, i.e. not as if you're going to a job interview.
