How to carry your computer bag when wearing your suit?

Question:
do you sling it over your shoulders? any harm to the shoulder padding?
Answer:
I wouldn't sling it over the shoulders of a nice suit, maybe my workhorse suit. Regardless, when I do carry a computer I use a briefcase-like bag and carry it by the handle.
Answer:
Slinging it over your shoulders will just wear out your suit where it makes contact. Handle all the way. :)
Answer:
I always carry mine by the handle. In the airport it's slung from my two wheeler.

Answer:
Carry it with your hand.
Answer:
I hand carry mine.
Answer:
Use the handle.
Across the chest insinuates an imminent mail delivery.
Answer:
Worse than the damage to the suit, most guys carrying them with shoulder straps look stupid because the strap has contorted their jacket on them. One shoulder is hanging off...and they walk all over the airport that way.

Answer:
I guess I'm in the minority here. First I avoid carrying it at all. If I have to I have a leather messenger bag I put it in and I sling it across my chest. I do take the time to make sure the jacket isn't too displaced or upset by the strap, and I wear it that way without regards to the suit I'm wearing as a suit is a suit for me be it a Sulka or a BB.
And I get a lot of compliments. I see guys doing the same thing in Italy all the time so I figure there's a degree of spezzatura required to pull it off.

Answer:
I carry a leather portrait shape messenger which fits my MacBook (when needed) - no problems with looking like a courier etc. or jacket pulling (sure you have to be careful with how you place the straps, but that is why I prefer the portrait to the landscape shape.
With todays technologies - portable drives or on-line storage, I rather travel light than to carry my MacBook. As, I like to have my hands free when walking to work.
Some days I resort to my hand carry balistic nylon & leather bag - if I have to carry extra files (but I try & carry light).
& the end of the day, make sure it is on keeping with your personality & style.
Answer:
I don't know about you, but I don't have the disposable income to replace expensive suits and jackets that get pilled on the sides where the strap rubs when you move. Thankfully, I learned this lesson when i was more commonly wearing cheap Armani sweaters.
Answer:
I don't think it is just Armani sweaters - all sweaters will pill.
What I make sure is the bag is smooth (hence I chose leather not a synthetic), the strap is not a twill or canvas as that definitely destroys anything (in this case the strap is leather).
The BIG mistake I notice people with messenger bags is that they wear the strap too long - this just causes the bag to swing more.
& the final advice is not too carry too much - same discipline as ones wallet, you do not need every loyalty/library or every credit card.
FYI - I am wearing Armani in the pics above & I walk everyday to work, yet no damage to my suits or coats yet (especialy my s/coast as they tend to be fabrics of a more delicate nature such as Ramie or silk etc.).
Answer:
I stand corrected. As Guapo has shown, it can work with a good bag and the weight kept down. I was thinking of my 8lbs 17" lappy, which would never work slung. :tounge:
