Question:
www.overstock.com
They have some watch brands like Seiko, Movado..etc
and I'm wondering..are they real? or not?
any opinions? :)
Answer:
Given that Overstock.com is not some dingy little internet operation, and that their TV ads are running everynight in every big cities, I would not doubt the authenticity of any of their offerings.
Answer:
^Agreed. They don't knowingly sell fakes, as this is illegal.
HOWEVER, be aware of the following anytime you order designer goods from closeout sites (like bluefly, overstock, etc.)
Sometimes, people will buy real products, receive them, and then replace them with fakes and mail them back (especially brands like LV, Prada, Movado, etc. that are readily faked). The returns/warehouse staff obviously have not been trained to differentiate a fake Prada bag from a real one and so simply return them into the mix of goods being sold, thinking it is the original item Sometime later, you then order that item and it gets shipped out to you. The site bought an authentic good, but had a fake one returned and so now it comes to you and the site is liable.
I remember Bluefly getting into hot water a few years ago over some Prada bags that had this happen. Sam's Club did as well over some designer goods.
So, you are safer buying on a site like this than some fly-by-night ebay seller in China, but the only way to be 100% safe is to buy from an authorized dealer. Nevertheless, if your item turns out to be fake, I'm certain the site would accept a return immediately and investigate. They have too much at stake to be selling fakes knowingly (including BIG lawsuits from the companies being faked).
