Ideas for HK Import Service?

Question:
Hello,
One of my good friends recently moved to Hong Kong. I am looking to start a (very) small business on the side, since I already work a pretty demanding job. I figured since a lot of forum members do buy from HK tailors (WW Chan, Jantzen), that there may be some kind of demand for SOMETHING from HK.
I know this is vague, but if any of you have ideas on a service that could be beneficial to you and other hereers, since I would have a legitimate partner on the other side of the pond, please let me know. An example (that I do not really plan on doing) would be shirts ordered in person to Jantzen, and then sent to the US, since we know he generally responds to actual in-person orders much faster than online orders. Something along those lines, or anything similar, I would consider doing.
I do not know if there will be any demand, but any ideas are welcome. The goal is for everyone to benefit.

Answer:
Is this purely as a proxy service, or will you have a stake in the order / delivery / quality / etc??
K
Answer:
Most likely a proxy but who knows where things would lead.
Answer:
Heres an idea for you, get those molds for feet in the states for snowboots - then you can make custom shoes for people in HK and import them back.
Answer:
Act as an intermediary between US customers and Jantzen.
Answer:
Thats right act as a go-between to pick up clothes so they don't charge us for custom taxes.
Answer:
I did this as a favour for an Australian forumite recently. I got a couple of shirts for myself out of it, but really it's not 'profitable' in any way. The sticky question comes when something goes wrong with the order, who is going to take responsibility, you or Janzten? If you act as a goodwill go-between then you don't take too much of the responsbility but if you are wanting to make money then you need to take more responsiblity in turn. How much more are SF'ers willing to pay above standard Janzten prices to get the shirts quicker I wonder? Does the OP's friend speak Cantonese?
As TD has remarked upon, one of the better aspects of HK clothing is being able to get 'custom' clothing at cheaper prices, but then they really entails being there for the full benefit... BTW TD, do you still have those cufflinks :bounce2:
Answer:
I do, and they are at home....moving to kowloon at the moment! :) I have to make time for that!
