Question:
Is it possible to get Gucci loafers refurbished w/soles & heels bearing the Gucci logos?
Answer:
why would you want to do that?
Answer:
probably not, but no one is going to see the soles just have them resoled in with a normal leather.
Answer:
1. The only reason to resole the Gucci loafer so that it bears the gucci logo is so others can see it when you cross your legs. Make sure you tell them to make the logo BIG.
2. It's actually not possible to resole the Gucci loafer because they are moccasin construction. In effect, once the sole wears out, you are out of a pair of shoes.
What I did with mine is to put Topy's on before the sole got too worn.
alternatively, you can just use a sharpie and write "GUCCI" on your sole so it's quite visible.
Answer:
Just get it tattooed on your forehead instead.
Answer:
or brogue it in the toecap (can i use that as a verb?)
Answer:
The best place to check on this would be to take it to a Gucci boutique and see if they can send it off somewhere to be refurbished.
But, I agree with the others that it probably won't be possible or worth your while to do it.
Answer:
This is such an obvious answer that it makes me suspect that what the OP really wanted was scorn and derision, rather than information.
Answer:
Or an even better response would have been to take it to a shoe repair expert. Take the shoes to a local shoe repair expert and ask them for generic italian leather soles. Gucci won't replace them becasue they probably just want you to buy new ones. Most people who buy Gucci loafers probably don't even know you can replace soles. If you can get them replaced, you might as well get the Toppy installed. I had Toppies installed on my every-other-day loafers, I also have a nice pair of loafers I don't wear on a regular basis so I kept them pure leather.
Don't mind these guys, they don't like anything other than Brioni shirts and Lobb shoes. :)
Answer:
Do you read, for comprehension?
Answer:
Yes, when I decide whether to throw away a $500 pair of loafers I usally take the word of a random person on the internet who has never seen them, doesn't know the model number and doesn't know when they were made. He could be right, but it doesn't mean the OP shoulden't take them to an EXPERT. If you take everything random posters type at face value then I've got some solid financial advice for you on the next penny stock that's going to $100. Better yet, I've got some magical beans for you while I'm at it.
My answer is the best and most responsible advice to give so stop with the asshole act.
Answer:
Was it actually on the point though?
Also, if the OP were to follow your suggestion of being hostile to opnion he himself solicited, why bother responding at all?
Back to the original topic, unless the said Gucci loafers were made before about 1995, they are either blake-stiched or glued (welting and channelling are fake), and most importantly, made of pedestrian-quality leather. Not something anyone should consider resoling...
Answer:
i'm not completely sure, but i thought cobblers weren't really artists who could carve big logos into soles like a tattoo artist? for the amount of money they'd charge, it's probably best to just get a knife and do it yourself. also, i think the OP may be talking about getting them resoled with "authentic" gucci soles, which, like you said, if it were possible (since they're loafers), would probably not go very well
Answer:
Yes its possible. The cobbler basically hacked off the soles and stick a thick piece of rubber sole onto it to my everlasting regret. It looks damn ugly now and in future I wont buy moccasins with its own special soles that cannot be replaced.
Answer:
Of course you are right... but I figured I'd say it in the hopes of nipping it in the bud. It seems we've gotten an inordinate number of trollies lately.
...at least this guy didn't ask if there was one stop where he could get both his Gucci's resoled AND his Vera Bradley bags fixed. ;)
