A place for everyone?

Question:
Hey everyone,
I'm just curious. I love this forum; I've learned more in 5 months than the last 15 years. But I do have a question.
Is there any worth in subdividing the Men's Clothing forum into Shirts, Ties, Suits, Trousers, Shoes, and General Forums?
The advantage would be that you could definitely find a wealth of information on one subject all in one place.
The disadvantage would be that seeing everything all in one place helps stimulate new ideas, new accessorizations, and provides a good overview of clothing top to bottom.
Any thoughts? Sometimes, a part of me wants to be able to hone in on just trousers, just furnishings, etc.
I'm curious what others think, especially, of course, Steve B. and j.
Answer:
I see the advantages, but to me it seems like a lot of work and division for only a smaller marginal return. Plus, what happens when someone has a question regarding an entire get-up, or wants to cover several topics in one post?
Answer:
Like I say, there are disadvantages, too.
Thanks for the input.
Answer:
I think the forum is subdivided enough already. Creating more "sections" might actually discourage members from posting. And if people are looking for a wealth of info on a particular topic, they can use the built-in search function or buy Steve's book.
Answer:
Pretty much what I think I felt anyway.
Never hurts to ask. Thanks.
Answer:
haha...i thought the topic was about 'tropical' forums...i'm all for that..
Answer:
I like having one general forum on clothing. If there were a separate topic on, let's say... shoes, I probably would never read it. However, with everything rolled up into one, I can browse all topic titles and read something I wouldn't have otherwise.
I also think that a lot of the topics are overlapping and would be hard to categorize properly.
Answer:
I thought this one was going to be about ointments.

Answer:
Don't know, don't want to find out.
Answer:
i could humbly suggest: archive the old posts in exactly such subdivision. this will ease the server load and make looking for information much more user-friendly.
this will make the old posts [over 6 months as an example] read-only and easy to reference when another dead-horse question get's posted
