Question:
Looking to have a couple of my shirts tapered in on the sides. I'm in Manhattan for the next 3 weeks and am unfamiliar with the city.
Is there somewhere you New Yorkers can recommend for a simple alteration like this? I definitely don't need Kabbaz for something like this but then again I don't want anyone butchering some of my nicer shirts. Thanks.
Answer:
Cardelino, Broadway between 22nd and 23rd. Really great. Shirtmaven, a veteran custom shirtmaker on this forum, recommends him.

Answer:
Where does Shirtmaven redommend them for shirts ?
Answer:
Honestly, the Korean dry cleaners I go to did an excellent job on my shirts IMO... It won't be the highest and cleanest job, but I don't need it to be painstakingly perfect. She took in the sides, extra fabric around the sleeves and added darts... YMMV. $15/shirt
I'm sure there are 100's in the city that fit this description.
Note, my alterations were not done with high end shirts, but after my experience, I would take them there too. Feel free to PM me for details.
Answer:
Can I sue them if they lose one of my shirts?
Jon.
Answer:
Sure, for the cost of the alteration ($15).
Answer:
How much does Cardelino charge for taking in sides and sleeves?
Answer:
Does Cardelino have two locations a block apart? I walk or drive by the 23rd st location nearly every day. But there is also another Cardelino shop around the corner on Broadway between 23 and 22. What's the difference?
Answer:
I think it's $20 to take the sides in on a dress shirt. He gets the pins just right with me.
gdl this confuses me too. There are two distinct ones that come up on Google Maps.
Answer:
There are two. And they are not the same as far as I know. The one on Bway b/w 22nd and 23rd is the one that's been referred to in the past. They're great and decently priced. I live in Brooklyn, go to school in Morningside Hts and work in Midtown, but still go out of my way to bring all of my alterations there.
Answer:
Really? But they're 200 feet away... That's so strange...
Answer:
they are related.
the one on 23rd between 5-6th aves also does drycleaning.
the one on broadway does not take in cleaning.

Answer:
Thanks Carl - which one do you recommend for alterations? the one on Bway?
Answer:
I reccommend the one on Broadway.
At the moment My alteration sewer is a bit slow. We can do tapering $20 is the going price.
Just make sure that the yoke is not too large. If the yoke is oversized, then the balance of the shirt will be off.
