Question:
Does anyone have suggestions? Should I use dark brown or black or a combo of the two? I tried it once before but I didn't have good results. I was just using wax and was just trying to go for a slightly darker color and a really nice shine on the toebox, but it didn't blend well into the rest of the shoe. There was an ugly transition as opposed to a nicely blended one. I'm going to strip off the wax and try again tonight.
In the meantime, any tips on technique for actually applying the wax could be helpful.

when talking with Tony about my future bespoke comissions i was also interested in an olive and he recomended just polishing with black wax as per normal!
