Harris shoes, are they good?

Question:
What do they compare to?
Where can one find them?
Are they a good value?
How well are they constructed?
Thanks!
Answer:
You can find them at Barneys.
Answer:
Was looking at them there a couple days ago. Overpriced.
Answer:
I bought a pair from marshall's and they are well made and nice and heavy.
Answer:
I also bought a great pair of black captoes at Marshalls. I love them. Heavy, well constructed, beautiful leather. I like them just as much as my AE Park Avenues. So much, in fact, that I bought an additional/backup pair of the same shoe & style!
Answer:
When and where? How much?
Answer:
On sale they are pretty nice. Some of the styles are overly fashion forward. I have a pair of whole-cuts where the chisel toe is darn close to pointy and they have kind of a fade in the dye job where the leather is darker brown at the toe and fades to a honey color for the rest of the shoe. Some (like mine) are blake-stitched, and others have a Norwegian welt. They are over-priced at retail (range from $400 to $550), but I haven't seen much that the folks around here think are worthwhile at retail (there was a thread about that once and the verdict was not good on many items). At a Barney's sale you can find them for $250-300. I thought they were worth it for me at that price as they were a little unique and they fit very well.
Answer:
I'd be interested to know about marshall's availability. At $100-150 they would be a very good value.
Answer:
I always confuse Harris and Barrett. 2 brands which are anglo-named but perhaps not anglo, supposed to be decent, and almost never mentioned on SF, at least in collection pics.
Answer:
I'm not a big wingtip fan myself, but I alway thought these Harris were really nice (except for the tassles on the laces)
does anybody here own them?
Answer:
Fellas...I am currently offering these Harris loafers on the buying/selling forum and they are really nice. Top level quality.
Answer:
If only they were a few sizes larger!
Answer:
Marshalls had the black captoes I spoke of on sale (from Barney's) about 12-18 mos ago for $150. It seemed that no one in he Pittsburgh area was interested in them, so I waited for them to go on clearance, and bought 2 pairs for $80/pair. Love them at that price. Would have been very pleased with them at $150. Would not have spent $4-500 on them, however.
