Question:
Gents,
I am looking into a camel polo coat for the fall. Because of my size, I must have it made and will be a second overcoat ( the first is a single breasted navy storm system).
My question is about keeping it clean. I live in NYC and am wondering if this would be an impractical acquisition because of subways, taxis, etc.
By the way, I've picked up a wonderful amount of insight on this forum and when finally get around to buying a new camera I will begin posting pics.
Danke.
Answer:
My 2c: Bravo for the choice of cut and color. Watch out for subway turnstiles, which are lubricated liberally, and for the back of subway seats, which trap liquids and channel them efficiently into the most expensive wool to be found. Cabs will be a problem only for the length, and so will be a better way to travel.
Answer:
I have had the same quandries about the camel coats in NYC. I ended up settling on a vicuna coloured coat. I find that it has worked out well.

Answer:
Oxxford and others that I've priced a camel hair Loro Piana Storm System mtm overcoat want $4k+. I have both cashmere and camel hair LPSS overcoats and see no advantage in the camel hair over the cashmere.
