Question:
Hi everyone,
I'm on my own for the first time in NYC (I go to NYU) and I need to find a good dry cleaners (price is not THAT big of a deal, but still a consideration) in the Union Square area. My dorm is on East 14th street for reference. Also, please tell me any information that you think would be useful pertaining to dry cleaning. Thanks!
Answer:
I wouldn't recommend them for everyday things (they are VERY expensive) but Meurice Garment Care on University is great. I just took them a bunch of trousers and a skirt of my wife that were essentially ruined. The skirt had a huge stain (oil? wine? couldn't remember) and the pants had been trashed during a move, machine washed (against the care labels) and left to sit, wet, for too long. They came back almost as good as new, maybe better, because now they feel lived in.
:slayer:
Of course, I think they charged $25 a pair.
Answer:
I use Cameo Cleaners on 22nd & 3rd avenue. Though closer to Gramercy than Union Square, they are excellent. Prices are reasonable, though about double what a regular cleaner charges. Expect dry cleaning for pants, for example, to run you about $12.
Answer:
Has anyone ever heard of Tower Cleaners on E 15th? That's what my (fashion-concious) R.A. recommended...I took them a crappy J Crew shirt to test them out...it's 2 dollars for a regular treatment.
P.S. Now that you guys mentioned 'regular prices', it ocurred to me that I have no idea what the 'regular prices' are. If you could fill me in on that too it'd be awesome. Thanks!
Answer:
the cleaner in my building is 2 dollars as shirt.
