Cheap Evening Shoes

Question:
Alrighty. I've decided that I'm tired of fudging the shoes on my formalwear, and I'll have more black tie events to go too soon so I can justify the upgrade.
Anyway, what do you guys recommend? I'm willing to go pretty low-tier on this (more money for a new tux shirt and some cool studs :slayer:). I mean my inclination is to just go to Dillards but I don't even know if they carry evening shoes.
Is CT still doing their neverending sale thing? I haven't gotten an email or a catalog in a while, but that might be because I never bought anything.
Answer:

Answer:
Define cheap. Are we talking under $300 cheap, or under $600 cheap?
I'm 6'1", but my wife is almost 5'8", so with heels she can get dangerously close to my height +, so I wanted a pair of opera pumps that would be a little more beefy than the traditional slipper like versions, and I'm not a fan of patent. My solution was to order a pair of Allen Edmond's huskier pumps (I think they're called the "Ritz" model), and to have AE make them up in regular black calf. I'm not certain, but I seem to recall a modest special order charge over my AE dealer's slightly discounted regular price for them. Probably around $300 for the pair???
Answer:
Ebay has a pair of 12D AE Ritz for $129 on Buy-it-now. Finding your size might be tricky given that they closed this line out a couple of years ago and availability is iffy. That said, if you do find your size, prices are getting cheaper.

You haven't really expressed a preference for style (pump vs. bal).
The Ritz is not the "sleek" pump that some like, but I have a pair and like them OK. I would like them better in calf than patent.
Answer:
Mark, I didn't know that AE doesn't make the Ritz any longer . . . that's too bad.
Answer:
I don't even see a patent-leather bal on their site...
C&J's patents can be had for not much more than $250...
I have a pair of the CTs, albeit the older model, not the current one. At half off (around $120), they were a reasonable buy I think.
Answer:
It's the Copley:

But finding these at much less than the $315 retail might be difficult since they're in the current lineup.
