Question:
I've searched the forum for the answer to this question: Can rubber soled shoes be Goodyear welted? Or does Goodyear welting assume leather soles?
Answer:
Sure - it looks like this
Answer:
The real question is could rubber soles be channeled....:bounce2:
Answer:
I have two pair of rubber soled shoes. Very handy for rainy weather.
Answer:
thank you all. I've got a pair of rubber soled shoes that someone was telling weren't Goodyear because they weren't leather soled. It will be good to tell them to shove it.
Answer:
Usually, rubber soles shoes are welted differently from leather-soles shoes: there is a welt, it is stitched (as usual) to a dense rubber/plastic/whatever layer, and this layer is glued to the sole. It is real welting, but the stitching is not visible from the bottom. However, some shoe companies prefer to actually attach rubber welted soles as they do the leather soles, as AE used to do with some of their drop-in rubber soles.

This is my first post on this forum so at the same time I would like to introduce myself to all here.
Hello everyone,
Looking at this post I just wanted to share a very changed opinion of mine, last week I purchased a new pair of Berluti shoes, this one has a Rubber Sole and is from the Tattoue collection.
This shoe has changed my opinion on rubber soled shoes as the sole is so discreet and for what ever strange reason the shoe fits like a glove.
This shoe is pictured on page 28 of the latest catalogue if anyone has one they can look it up there.
I have and wear shoes from EG, JL and Berluti, most of my collection is from JL (Jermyn Street) but as said I do not know why but this shoe is the closest I have ever had to anything which is not made to measure, I also thought I have a broad feet and the Tattoue collection is on a narrow last so maybe this shoe will feel uncomfortable but to my surprise it is fine,
Anyway, thanks for reading, I thought I would just share my opinion on rubber sled shoes which I used to hate, well until now!!

That was my understanding as well-and AE is still a good example
Answer:
Farhad,
I agree completely. I hated rubber soles with the exception of some dainite-soled "country" shoes, but a recent purchase of Suede JL Lopez loafers with a rubber sole has really changed the way I feel about rubber soles. Quite comfortable, and they look just fine. I was set on having these resoled with leather next year (need it or not), but now I'm wondering.
Answer:
Sorry TCN I could not get your name.
Suede JL Lopez loafers with a rubber sole must be very nice, I must admit I have not seen these with teh rubber sole but the rubber sole that JL do are also quite thin and descreet.
I would leave them as they are and not tamper with something that is perfect.
