Question:
Okay,
So now in my apartment I have my own washer and dryer, so I want to start doing some laundry myself and am thinking that on my oxfords/TB shirts/casual collared shirts that I will wash them myself.
However, what's a safe thing to use on collar to help get out ring around the collar?
Answer:
I use the Spray 'n Wash Stain Stick and it works great. I haven't had any issues with it causing fading on colored clothes.
Answer:
I think Zout is the best on stains in general. It seems to do absolutly no damage to even the finest cottons or linens.
Answer:
You wash your own clothes?
Answer:
Oxyclean powder works well on stains as well. Never used Zout, will have to give that a try too.
Answer:
Yes.
Answer:
Yea, anything with the extra oxygen like Oxyclean is the right way to go. You can also remove the yellowing with some baking soda + water made into a paste.
Answer:
I forgot to thank GS for his past Oxyclean suggestion. I had some very set in collar rings on shirts that I assumed were far beyond repair... I made a "paste" from OC and water, rubbed it on the collar for a minute or two, and sit for about 10 minutes. Then, I let the shirts soak in some very hot water for a few hours. Took them out of the OC soak, and machine washed them with standard detergent, and the difference was amazing. There was still some "ring" left on one shirt (the really badly stained one), but the lightly stained one came out as white as new.
EDIT: I used a store brand version of Oxyclean and it worked just fine, and I saved some coin as well.
