I'd try a search of the SF archives as I remember us having a number of recent discussions about luggage. In fact, I remember us also discussing the merits of Tumi and other brands.
As I said on that other thread (and probably five others like it), I have some Tumi T3 and have been very satisfied with it. I don't know that I'd pay $900 for a single piece of Tumi, but you could certainly do worse.

Are you looking for luggage that one must check, or "road warrior" carry-on?
For "road warrior" carry one, look at Travel Pro roll-aboards. 95% of all pilots and flight attendants use them, for good reason. They are tough, supported with a network of authorized repair stations throughout the world, and has a good guarantee.
Not the most stylish, but it's time proven tough.........
