Newbie Corneliani Question

Question:
Hi all, I know very little about Corneliani, but i've seen a jacket on the 'Bay that is a very good price. However, the material quoted in the listing is Polyester.
Does anyone know whether Corneliani would make a jacket in such a material? It certainly doesn't look polyester, but the picture isn't great.
I've emailed the seller to confirm the material (no response yet). However, I can only conclude that either s/he's got the branding wrong, or s/he's listing some other part of the jacket.
Unless they actually do make polyester jackets.
Here's a picture of the jacket.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks
Clint
Answer:
Here's the link:
Corneliani Polyester
It's only 1% polyester. Wool-polyester blends are not uncommon - the polyester adds a little strength to the fabric. If you're interested, here's more information:

Toolhaus.org likes the seller. All in all, the magic eight-ball says 'Yes'. Still, it's eBay, and it's a magic eight-ball. Best of luck making the call.
Answer:
Thanks letmebefell for the information. I didn't make myself entirely clear. I believe the Seller meant 100% polyester, as no other material was used.
Anyway, I pulled the trigger. It was on a Buy it now for $12 (+ $14 delivery), so I figured it shouldn't be the end of the World me getting it.
I shall be sure to comment further when i've got the jacket in my hands.
Thanks again
Clint
Answer:
If it was 100% polyester then that are $26 bad spent IMO
Answer:
Possibly? I'm feeling that it isn't. Although, i'll be the first to admit a 100% polyester jacket isn't one for the wardrobe.
Watch this space.

Answer:
Oh - I linked to a different suit than the one you bought. I'd agree that $26 is a lot to pay for the pleasure of opening a box and saying 'Nope. Never going to wear that.' You may be getting an authentic Corneliani label. You're not getting anything like an authentic Corneliani suit.
Do include the link next time around. The folks here seem pretty scrupulous about not jumping on auctions first discussed here.
Answer:
Hi Here's the link, although I suspect it won't add any further information than what i've written early. There's so little information. But I like to experiment and take some chances, so I had a go. I'll be sure to post my findings (good or bad).
I have been burnt before by posting links (but not on this site), so I was a little cautious.
Thanks again

Answer:
chances are its 100% poly. I've seen a few Corneliani 100% poly in discount stores only. Probibly a reason why.
Answer:
Hi all, to provide an update (and closure) on this thread.
I actually have the jacket in my possession.
It is actually a Linea Satoria Jacket (whatever that means). It's in fairly good condition externally, but the inner pocket openings are worn.
The big question was whether the jacket was Polyester. I'm pleased to say that it's 100% Virgin Wool and 100% Cupro lining. I have no idea what the seller was talking about as the fabric label is clearly located in the jacket
Here are some photos from the jacket.
I'm not sure how old the jacket is, can anyone help?
Thanks
Clint
Answer:
the seller probably saw a tag referring to 100% polyester lining? what a deal...
Answer:
For $26, I'd say you took a good chance and it worked out. Nicely done.
EDIT: Just finally got the auction page to load and saw it was an orphaned suit jacket, which is less good.
Answer:
Yes, I see that happen fairly often. Blondy's Bay used to do that a lot; don't know if they still do.
Answer:
I guess it isn't that good. But I don't mind the jacket. I could be worn with some dark trousers and it won't look too bad.
I'm pretty certain that this question's been asked before, but how can one tell whether a jacket is a sportscoat or a suit coat?
Is it the material, or appearance (such as buttons) which dictates this?
I'm still pleased for $26 and it's in fairly decent condition.
Clint
Answer:
I initially thought that, but I cannot find any reference to polyester on the jacket
On the topic of lining, what is Cupro and how does it differ from Bemberg? When I do a google search for Cupro, it comes up with Bemberg references.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Clint
Answer:
It's basically rayon, although bemberg rayon is supposed to be "better" rayon. Like rayon, it's a manmade fiber from natural materials.
